My last trip before coronavirus pandemic

As you can see it from the title, it was the last trip I took before this coronavirus pandemic locked us in our respective homes.

I am so thankful to my sister that she decided and planned this trip for us. Plus it was her birthday. So we had an occasion to celebrate as well.

The destination we decided to visit together was Rishikesh as we desperately wanted to visit someplace soothing and serene in nature.

Rishikesh is one of the most popular destination where you can discover lots of things and activities. Rishikesh is a city set in the beautiful mountainous state of Uttarakhand and a location so serene that it can melt the heart of the Gods. Often known as the Gateway to the Garhwal mountains, the city has a rich cultural past that blends with the modern city that it has become. There are a plethora of things that people in Rishikesh can do, here are our top picks for things to do in Rishikesh.

The Ganga river has been considered as one of the holiest rivers in India. The arti that is performed at the Triveni Ghat is a testament to the devotion of the people of Rishikesh towards the river.

Every evening the area lights up with the aarti and it is truly a majestic sight to witness. One can truly feel the spirituality when witnessing the Ganga Arti at Rishikesh.

The proximity of Rishikesh to the Himalayan range with the Ganga river flowing through it makes it an ideal place to go rafting. The sport has been gaining much popularity lately. The activity caters to every adventure junkie’s need to feel the adrenaline rush. The chilly waters of Ganga add a different layer of excitement to the entire activity.

Yoga has been part of the culture in Rishikesh for centuries. There are many practitioners who are willing to teach you this exercise and activity in Rishikesh. Engaging in yoga not only proves to be a good physical activity but also helps calm the mind and encourages focused clarity.

Rishikesh happens to be the “yoga capital of the world” and people from all around the world come here to practice yoga. Every year Yoga Festival is celebrated in Rishikesh at PARMARTH NIKETAN where people come from different countries and participate in the festival.

Rishikund, a.k.a the Pond of Sages, is a place you wouldn’t want to miss. The hot water spring with various mythological references attracts many pilgrims every year. Being part of Raghunath temple and close to Shani and Triveni Sangam, this place is easily accessible and is one of the best places to visit in Rishikesh

Laxman Jhula

You can enjoy a walk on the bridge in the evenings and can feel the cold air. During the day the bridge is crowded as it connects the two important sides of Rishikesh.

6) Neelkanth Mahadev Temple

The sacred pilgrim spot of the Hindus and the revered holy shrine visited by thousands of pilgrims, the Neelkanth Mahadev temple is located on a hill above the Swarg Ashram in Haridwar. The temple is fondly dedicated to Lord Shiva who was considered the most authoritative of all gods in the Hindu Pantheon. The construction and placement of the temple have a different story to tell. According to popular mythological stories, Lord Shiva drank the poison which appeared as a result of the churning of the ocean or the ‘Sagar Manthan’.

Churning of the ocean milk

The premise of the temple is said to be the same place where this incident occurred. When the Lord drank poison, his throat became blue. This is the reason why the temple is also known as ‘Neelkanth” which means ‘Blue Throat’. The main temple has a Shiva Lingam and the aura surrounding the temple is ethereal and subtle. Devotees also get Prasad offerings from the temple along with Vibhuti and Chandan.

7) The Beatles Cafe | Cafe Delmar

At the counter

This one is a Beatles-themed cafe that has the most stunning view of the Ganges river. It’s the ideal place for a Beatles fan because it’s literally filled with their memorabilia, pictures and more. In fact, they only play Beatles’ songs and even have live music evenings, isn’t that like the cherry on the cake? Their menu is huge and versatile with vegan and gluten-free options as well, if you’d like. Their service can be a little slow due to the high demand but the food is simply delicious and worth the wait. The burgers, pizzas and desserts are totally breathtaking.

Near the counter

The menu is also fully labelled with their vegan options and staff seemed really knowledgeable and were happy to answer any query related to the menu or the places to explore in Rishikesh.

The view from the “Beatles Cafe”

The place itself is clean and comfortable and it’s even worth a visit just for the brilliant views of the Ganga River. So if you are looking for somewhere to relax and soak in the good atmosphere while enjoying some seriously diverse food options then this is a great place to go.

8) Shambhala Cafe

There is Shambhala Cafe where you have to go through this shop (shown above) to reach this small but exciting cafe. You will be drawn to this place immediately as you hear the sound of the music whilst walking down the streets.

Lord Shiva

You will be required to take off your shoes in every cafe in Rishikesh as you will be sitting on the ground covered with colorful carpets. There is a unique feel to this place which touches the soul irrespective of this place being a little small and cozy.

Nutella banana crepe

Food here is simply amazing and one can enjoy variety of cuisine from Aloo-gobi to Nutella banana crepes (as shown in the picture above).

And there are a lot more adventurous activities like Bunjee Jumping, Flying Fox, Cliff Jumping, Body Surfing, Canoeing, Kayaking etc for every adventure junkie out there.

So don’t forget to pay your visit to this heavenly place .

It will be worth it!

I promise!

Always be Hopeful!

“Hope itself is like a star-

not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity,

and only to be discovered in the night of adversity”

H – Have

O – Only

P – Positive

E – Expectations

Just a four letter word with a very deep meaning.

A person without hope is nothing. One need to have some hope in life no matter what he is going through currently.

It might sound unreal but having hope is the first step towards manifestation.

If one can’t have hope he can’t envision his dreams.

A person with no dreams can’t envision his future.

A person with no vision of future can never manifest.

If you do not know what to go after then how will you take the very first step towards that direction.

And if you are not taking the very first step, it means you are stuck at a place my dear.

Now you know what this four letter word can do for you.

It can bring wonders to your life. You just need to be hopeful about your future. And envision your dreams and manifest it into reality.

Ofcourse with a lot of dedication and hard work without which manifestation can never work.

If you won’t do it for yourself then who will????

Always be Hopeful!

Journey (Unrequited Love) ~ A poem

Photo by Ott Maidre from Pexels

She was looking for her seat
In the Volvo bus
“There it is!”,
She told herself in rush

Beside her seat, was sitting this nerdy guy
Wearing specs, he looked really shy

But her belief was completely proven wrong
As he continued speaking to her for quite long

There he was talking enthusiastically about “Weed”
Which was, at that moment, the least she need

Then the bus took a break in between the journey
That place was near the lake resembling a scenery

ImageSource Pexels

She was standing there
feeling the calmness of the place
Offering his cigarettes pointing to the cigarette case
Suddenly that guy intruded her space

She asked him the reason
Behind these self destructive choices
He got really offended
And said, “Don’t bother my life choices”

Suddenly, She noticed,
there was a change in his gait
As he started walking towards the bus,
murmuring something about his fate.

She could see, he is somewhere deeply hurt,
Hiding his wounds behind this playboy image

‘Why do we judge others so easily!”,
She thought, in her mind,
She promised herself to initiate the talk,
When the bus started moving, this time

There he started revealing details about his love story
“It was an unrequited love”, he said
And she felt, for him, sorry!

The topic for this blog-post was suggested by Manisha from Be yourself unapologetically She writes poems and articles on various topics that you might find interesting. I like her poem HILLS ~ A POEM (FICTION) which expresses a wonder about nature and fantasy of a child. Do check out her blog to know more about her!

What is gaslighting ?

Gaslighting is a form of psychological manipulation in which a person or a group covertly sows seeds of doubt in a targeted individual, making them question their own memory, perception, or judgment, often evoking in them cognitive dissonance and other changes such as low self-esteem.”

In simple words, when someone is trying to belittle you by abusive words or simply making you feel negative about yourself, it is a form of gaslighting.

It is especially dangerous because it distorts…

2020 ~ The year of Rahu (North Node)

Photo by Evie Shaffer from Pexels

For all those who are interested in numerology, astrology and such other occult sciences.

Here is my first post on this subject.

So the big question is –

“Why is this year 2020 turning out to be so fatal?”

Now when u add the digits in this year 2020 , you will get 2+0+2+0=4, the number adds up to 4.

So what does number 4 signify!

4 is the number of system, order and management.

4 is the number of fate and therefore, there could be many things that happen beyond anyone’s control.

In Vedic astrology, number 4 signifies Rahu or the North node of the Moon.

In other words, Rahu is the lord of Number 4 in Vedic astrology.

Rahu, the north node is an indicator of materialistic desires, fame, greed, obsessive behaviour, mass disease, foreigners and more.

Rahu has the tendency to expand everything ~ Coronavirus disease is spreading all over the world as we know it.

Rahu is obsession ~ And we all know how obsessed each and every individual is currently with the disease. They are searching about it, talking about it and trying to get into the depth of it. Everybody is dealing with this fatal disease with a lot of mental strength and courage.

Rahu is fear ~ And there is not a single place in this world where a person is not fearful of this deadly disease.

Rahu represents foreigners ~ And this coronavirus disease is effecting the foreigners the most. And it was spread from a foreign country (China).

Rahu represents materialism ~ And everybody knows what the behaviour of the share market has been this year and its impact on the world economy.

These are the negative effects of badly placed Rahu. Currently Rahu is in adra nakshatra.

Things might get better once it starts transiting into Mrigsira nakshatra.

And later when it transits into Rohini nakshatra, Rahu will be at its best behavior.

So everything is all about its placement. Therefore,

Stay positive

Stay hopeful

Pray more

Meditate regularly

Bad times will end soon.

And No Number is good or bad. These are just the characteristics of the good or bad placements.

A weird dream

Suddenly she woke up
in the middle of the night

And found herself dreaming
about the guy she liked

The guy who was
so much drowned in the idea
of money

That he couldn’t resist
his family’s demand for dowry

Only to break her heart
into infinite pieces

Caring about nothing but
only his luxuries

It was her love
but was a greed for him

That was the only difference
causing their love story incomplete!

Why so negative?

Why is it??

Tell me, Why?

Why society cannot stand a happy person?

Why they want to inject the negative vibes?

Why is it that a person who is happy is targeted more?

Why is a happy person not allowed to be just happy in his own space?

Why society wants him to be insecure?

Why they bully?

Why they judge?

Why they target?

Why they get jealous?

May be just because they are incapable of being happy themselves.

Always remember one thing in life ~

You do not owe anybody any explanation!

Own your life

Why fake?

Why being fake when being real is easy
Try it genuinely and you will never be fussy

Why busy in making unreal stories
And escaping from real glories

Only to hide your faults and weakness
Little did you know, they show your uniqueness

Uniqueness is required to standout from the crowd
Silently standing amidst the fake shout

Fake is everybody, try to become real
Being real is classy as you display true zeal!

Infinity Symbol ~ A Dream

Today morning when I woke up
I had a very weird dream

I was painting the Infinity symbol
On the wall in color tangerine

Using the wide paint brush
Dropping a little mush

I was painting and not stopping
As the loop was un-ending

It looked like “8” wanted to sleep
As it got tired of standing still

The color tangerine was so refreshing and bright
In the dark room it spread so much light

The infinity symbol signifies endless possibilities
It helps to bounce back to infinite opportunities

Maybe God wanted to give me some positive sign
Helping my life completely re-align!

Toxic (relationships)

People who instill their own self pity on your existence and make you feel inferior about you are toxic

Those who want constant attention and become cry babies once you stop giving attention are toxic

Those who take advantage of your bad times by becoming a friend and call it help or favour are toxic

Those who continue bragging about their importance in your life and wants to control your life are toxic

Those who lie are toxic

Those who are sadist are toxic

Those who makes you dependent on them are toxic

Those who questions your individuality are toxic

Those who doesn’t believe in giving space are toxic

Those who are clingy are toxic

Those who are whiners are toxic

Those who are fake are toxic

Those who continue reminding you of your worst experiences and don’t want you to get rid of the past memories are toxic.

Those who want to make more connections using you are toxic

Those who doesn’t have anything good to say about you or your family are toxic

Those who are too materialistic that they could see your problematic situation as an opportunity for their own gains are toxic

Those who instill fear in your mind are toxic

Those who want to know every detail about your life are toxic

Beware of such toxic personalities

They are constantly trying to find problems in you and your life inorder to become a helping hand and dictate your life

They have toxic mentality

They will make your life toxic.

I hate toxic.

Hills ~ A poem (fiction)

When I was a child I used to love mountains
Blown by its beautiful view: clouds, sky and rains

I always wanted to see what is there behind the hills
Could there exist a big monster or a treasure hidden beneath

I still remember the story mommy told
That the queen of the mountains has a mystery unfold

She has her kingdom hidden amidst the hills
Where she resides with her husband and two kids

The queen was very pretty but had a black heart
She wanted to be the most beautiful woman on earth

So mommy told me not to visit there alone
Else the wicked queen will turn me into stone

Now when I have grown up I know the reality
Still wondering if the story was just fantasy

Anyhow I will always love mountains and hills
As it is the amazing creation of nature: pure & still!!!

Don’t raise an Obedient Child

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio from Pexels

Bullying doesn’t only take place in society. But It occurs in families too. It’s just that you don’t realise it at that particular time.

Parental abuse is the worst.
Abuse isn’t only physical but it can be mental as well.

Not everyone is lucky to have a supportive family. For some, it’s the family members who lower a person’s self worth and confidence by constantly taunting and passing remarks..

The realisation occurs when you distance yourself from them. And that phase of realisation kills you internally and externally.

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio from Pexels

It brings back all the childhood traumas which you never took seriously before coz you were just a child following your parents orders or teachings..

You treat them as God considering they are the ones who brought you in this world. And you accept their bad behaviour obediently thinking it’s the right thing for you and whatever they are saying or doing is for your benefit.

But as you grow up and with the experiences you get throughout your life.  You realise that being obedient is the worst in today’s world.

Obedient person keeps on following the instructions he/she is given. He doesn’t know when to stop giving or when to stand for themselves.

Obedience is instilled in a person’s mind in his childhood.

And that child becomes a good scholar as well. But when that child becomes an adult and has to face the world then he doesn’t understand when to stop doing for others or listening to others or to take stand for themselves because he has never taken any decision about his own life since childhood so he ends up blaming.

Blaming the world. Blaming the time. Blaming the situations.

Obediency kills a child’s soul. It kills his dreams.

Scattered dreams

It creates an adult who is waiting for someone to give him orders.

A Deep Woman ~ short poem!

I thought of writing a poem today coz I was in that poetic mood.

It’s a short and sweet poem about a woman.

It could be you or anybody else!

Share it to those you want to dedicate it to!

Or just enjoy the reading!

A Deep Woman

A deep woman is everybody’s desire
As she is full of passion and fire

She has been through hell
And managed herself really well

Surviving alone in the storm
Taking every possible form

She has become her own hero
And every alliance feels like zero

Yet she craves for someone
As her heart longs for the one

But her heart gets awfully broken
Everytime she tries to let it open

As her soul is so gentle and pure
Not any random man is able to explore

A deep woman is everybody’s desire
As she is full of passion and fire

The Coronavirus Pandemic: Impact of the lockdown in my life

It was just a day before the announcement of lockdown that I returned home where my parents live. I work in another city so I brought two- three sets of clothes only with me to survive a weekend.

As I was staying alone for so long, it wasn’t easy for me to adjust in the starting. Plus I had no clothes except for those few sets. It got really irritating in the initial days but with the passage of time I realised that one can actually survive with the very basic stuff.

It was the moment of realisation. The realisation that one actually doesn’t need much to survive in life. Needs are very basic. We can survive with very little stuff.

We just make life more complex by overdoing everything whether it be eating or shopping or travelling or spending. Or one can say, it’s the programming we have received which keeps us in this forever loop of earning and spending. This is supercrazy. Maybe that’s what the matrix is all about.

Moreover, mentally and emotionally it is a nice experience for me as it has given me a good long break from my 9-5 job which sucks out all my energy. I hate my job so it is liberating to be at home.

And about staying indoors for this long I can say that it has helped me in becoming more focussed at meditation. I have become a regular meditator now. It feels like a rejuvenation therapy. It helps in maintaining my sanity during this pandemic situation.

And I am using this time to try and prepare different cuisines for my family which I never thought I would be able to prepare before.

I am cooking, sketching, painting, reading, baking and exploring everything I possibly can in this period of lockdown.

I am using this time as an opportunity to explore more of my creative side.

I have started my own blog as you know it.

Pouring my thoughts out here brings inner happiness to me.

Writing is an eternal bliss!

God Friended Me: A little ray of hope

Just ended watching the last episode of this show “God Friended Me”

It’s about an Atheist Guy who has doubts in faith and in existence of God, irrespective of his father being a bishop. It shows how his life takes unexpected turn when he gets friend request from God himself.

Through this God Account he gets various friend suggestions. And he would come in contact with these friend suggestions or they would cross his path by luck or coincidence every time on its own. It was as if he was destined to meet these people and help them what-so-ever.

This show started in September 2018 and ended today on 29 April 2020.

How watching this show affected me

I mean I have stayed alone for soo long that I started becoming pessimistic. Dealing with office politics on one hand and managing daily chores on the other. Life became really hard to survive.

Fighting alone for too long with the same issues repeatedly can actually make you weak physically, emotionally and mentally. And I survived 6 years dealing with this continuously. It almost took all my late 20s from my life.

When you are staying alone and dealing with everything on your own, it consumes a lot of your energy. Plus if you don’t find good people to be with, it becomes all the more difficult.

So when I started watching this show I never thought it would leave such a positive impact on me. It was just a random suggestion by one of my old school friend when we were talking over the phone.

This show actually refilled my faith in humanity. I know its just a show but what you see regularly can actually make an impact on your brain.

The way Miles(the main lead of the show) would help people without asking anything in return from them amazed me. He would get friend suggestions one after another from God Account and he never stopped helping those people no matter what.

It made him stronger and his team consisting of two friends helped him throughout in his journey.

What I learned from this

Helping people and being kind to one another is so much important that you cannot imagine the importance it holds. You cannot imagine the impact few positive words can make on an individual and how much can hatred and anger cripple a person’s soul.

I have survived all. Have survived hatred, jealousy, eve-teasing, gaslighting and what not. It crippled my soul. It damaged my faith in humanity. It made me pessimistic about life and people.

Those were such few extreme negativite years that I still don’t clearly remember their existence. I don’t remember what I was doing during those years as I was just passing each day the same way.

Getting up in the morning to go to office, dealing with shit there, coming back to empty house, bringing all the negative energies at home.

This kept on going repeatedly for 5-6 years. I remember I used to watch one movie every day. I would start it in the morning while getting ready for office to distract myself from negative thoughts and I would pause it and resume it after getting back from office.

I would order food online for dinner as I had no motivation left to cook anything. I used to eat nothing for lunch as I never moved from my seat in office. I was just working and returning home. That’s it. I also gained weight, a lot of weight because of my little to zero physical activity.

This show came as rescue in 2018. It helped me see a little ray of hope in my dark cloud of pessimism.

It taught me that happiness can be found in other ways. It made me a lot kinder and calmer. It helped in dealing with anxiety. It made me a selfless giver. It helped me gain perspective.

I can never be thankful enough to the team of this show “God Friended Me” and I highly recommend everybody to give it a try once .
